| So guys, I'm updating from good ole Ft. Sam Houston in San Antonio TX. It feels wonderful to be back home, in Texas where I belong. I just completed my EMT-B course, and I have National Registry tomorrow. Pray for me everyone, this is a major test with an extremely high failure rate! I don't know what I'll do if I fail it, really. So yeah, and I have my cell phone as well, so feel free to give me a call. If you don't have my number, leave a comment and I'll get it to you as soon as I get back on a computer! Ummm... so yeah, I don't have PT in the morning and they're letting us sleep in until 6. Do you have any idea how exciting that is? Oh man. I really miss high school, it was lovely getting up at 0600 and going to bed whenever I wanted. Really. Now I have to get up at 0430 every morning and it blows. Bed check is at 2130... blah. However, I get to go off post on the weekends and hang out, so feel free to come down and visit if you want to! Just let me know beforehand, alright? So anyway... I'm trying to think of what else to say, it's been so damn long since I've updated this thing, I don't even know where to start. I mean, other than talking about my all skills exam that I screwed up a bit (still passed though) I really just don't know... But um, yeah, All skills. I was all jacked up on my trauma assessment. The pt (patient, I'm just abbreviating for time's sake...) was a 20 y/o male that fell from over 25 feet and landed supine (on his back). I walked up, did my BSI (body substance isolation... gloves... basically, if it's wet, sticky and it's not yours, DON'T TOUCH IT.) and checked his airway... failed to put him on high flow oxygen by nonrebreather (he was respirating at a normal rate) and made my decision to load and go. Did not do a blood sweep to make sure he wasn't bleeding from his back. I immediately put a cervical collar on him and log-rolled him onto the long spine board without doing my rapid trauma assessment (RTA). There are two things wrong with this. 1: I didn't assess for pelvic stability. This was a pelvic injury pt. You NEVER NEVER NEVER log-roll a pelvic injury pt. Ever. You NEVER NEVER NEVER put a pelvic injury pt on a long spine board. You put them on a scoop stretcher. So yeah. I then remembered OH YEAH! I have to do an RTA. Therefore, I failed the skill and was all jacked up. However, I got to go again... and passed the second time. So I was alright. I passed my medical assessment with flying colors, 29/30... That was the one I was worried about too. My medical pt was easy though, an altered mental status call... just a diabetic going into insulin shock, give them some oral glucose through bucal route and she was fine in five minutes. No biggie. So yes, and I realize about half of you are a bit confused at this point about all that, but I figured there's gotta be someone out there that knows what I'm talking about. So yeah. I'm going to head out. Miss you all and I'll catch you later.

| I am sunburned.
I am exhausted.
I ship out in a week.
If you want me to write to you (IF I get the chance), email me at
orangelime@gmail.com with your snail mail address. Don't be offended if
I don't get around to it... I'll be extremely busy and tired and I have
priorities. My family gets letters first.
Let me know guys.
I'm going to bed now.
Even though it's only 21:00.
I don't care.

| I talked to Dave today. :)
He's really very special to me, and I don't want to screw this up.
I have pictures of me and Lily and a couple of video clips of Lily, Hannah and I... They made me smile. :)
I'm going swimming tomorrow.
I was broken down on 288 in Houston in the middle of the night last
night. Cris's car didn't have hardly any water in the radiator, and we
wound up at a storage place on Old Spanish Trail in the medical
district. But at least if we got mugged, we'd be within range of about
20 hospitals... lol. So my mom had to come and check on us, taking off
from work for a bit, but like... Cris had already put water in the
radiator by then, and it was working fine, but we followed Mom to her
work at M. D. Anderson to humor her, and then back to Cris's apartment.
Fun stuff.
Other than that, nothing much going on right now.
Dave just signed online again. It's nearly 0800 there. Poor guy can't sleep. :(
Also, a friend of mine had a Cessna crash into her house... Eesh.
I'm just glad she's okay.
Ja mata ashita, guys, I'm going to watch Discovery Health Channel and talk to Dave.
